4-H Youth Development
Fulton Montgomery 4-H Horse Show

The Fulton-Montgomery 4-H show will be held at the Fonda Fairgrounds on Sunday, June 23rd, starting at 9am. Pre-registration with payment must be submitted to the 4-H office by 4:30pm on Friay, June 7th. Note: New this year, No day of show entries will be accepted for the 2019 show. Only class additions to existing pre-entries will be allowed. Please see the attached copy for more information, class list and registration form. If you have any questions, please call our office at 518-853-2135.

4-H Meat Bird Project

4-H MEAT BIRD PROJECT
This project is for youth interested in learning about how to properly raise chickens as a food source.
Youth participating in this project will receive six Cornish/Rock chicks on  Wednesday, July 17th. The youth will also receive a bag of feed and a 4-H Meat Bird    Project Record Book accompanying the chicks. The 4-H Meat Bird Record Book is to be completed and submitted with the entry at the Fonda Fair.
After the fair these birds will be processed and the meat returned to the youth.
This is mandatory.
                              Cost for the six chicks, feed and project record book is $30 per youth.
                                                        Please sign-up by Monday, June 24th.

 

4-H Rabbit Clinic

        4-H Rabbit Clinic

     Tuesday, July 23rd - 7pm - Fonda Fairgrounds - Poultry/Rabbit Barn
                     Held after the Mystery Chick Project meeting.
Join us for a fun filled evening of learning about rabbits and cavies. Youth will learn basic care, showmanship and more! Youth are encouraged to bring their animals with them to practice showmanship. To attend, please RSVP to the 4-H Office by Monday, July 22nd.

This shirt is available for purchase by all.
The cost is $14 each for small, medium, large and extra large; $16 each for 2XL and $17 for3XL.
An Additonal charge of $2 each for your name to be added.
All orders with payment are due to the 4-H office by June 17th. See the attached order form. Let us know if you have any questions.
4-H T-Shirt Fulton-Montgomery

We are offering a 4-H t-shirt for sale. You have your choice of colors: deep marine with white print or lime green with purple print. The cost is $8 each for small, medium, large and extra large; $9 each for 2XL or 3XL. All orders with payment are due to the 4-H office by July 13th. See the attached order form. RFID Tags Update

Due to a higher than expecteed demand for the free 840 RFID tags we had available, we're sorry to announcc e that our supply is completely gone. We will no longer be able to fulfill orders for 840 RFID tags or applicators. Please see the attached document for more information on the update. If you have further questions, please call our office at 518-853-2135.

* Member Project Data Sheet: Be sure to use the month of May to check what 4-H projects you enrolled in at the beginning of the current 4-H year. June 1st is the last day to enroll in a project to be eligible for entry in the 2019 Fonda Fair. You must be enrolled in the correct project area to exhibit items from that project. If you have any questions concerning which projects you are enrolled in or enrolling in another please contact the 4-H office.
 * All Animal Certificates:
     *All Horse Project Animals (only those with submitted horse papers will be notified of horse dayz & shows)
     *Animal Certificates for non-registered, grade/commercial dairy, beef, swine, goat & sheep
 ¨ Animal Lease Agreement:
      *If you are leasing an animal from another person, you must fill out an “animal lease agreement.”
      *You are allowed to lease two animals of the same species, but only allowed to show one at the fair.
      *A lessor/owner cannot lease to a family member of the same farm operation. The lessee involved in
        a family farm cannot lease from another family member from the same farm.
 * 2018-19 Member Enrollments: If your child or members of your club have not officially
       enrolled or re-enrolled for the 2018-2019 4-H Club Year, you need to submit your
       enrollment/re-enrollment papers/fees and project updates by June 1st!  A youth must be enrolled to:
            *be recognized as an official 4-H member
            *be eligible for 4-H insurance coverage
            *remain on the 4-H mailing list
            *be eligible for participation in 4-H at the 2019 Fonda Fair

 

 

 

4-H Horse Dayz

4-H Horse Dayz will be held at the Fonda Fairgrounds, July 8-10. This is open to enrolled regular & cloverbus 4-H youth. Cost is $75 per regular 4-H yuth and $25 per cloverbud. A fulll catalog is attached. Registration is due by 4:30pm, Friday, June 7th. Please call our office with any questions. 518-853-2135

Animal Crackers

The annual Animal Crackers program provides New York youth with fun, hands-on, science-oriented  learning experiences on Animal Science topics. This workshop is for 4-H members interested in learning more about their favorite livestock, companion or pet animal species; emphasis on different species   groupings and activities varies annually. Participants will learn about different aspects of animal care, interact and exchange information with faculty, staff, students, professional producers, industry experts, and more, utilizing the unique facilities of Cornell University. Hands-on workshops are planned for each species group.

In the 2008-2009 program year, 7,523 young people ages 5-19 participated in 4-H programs in Fulton and Montgomery Counties with more than 200 volunteers contributing more than 42,000 hours in nurturing, caring relationships with youth.
