Cornell Vet School Open House

The students, faculty, and staff of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine invite you, your family and friends to our 52nd annual Open House.
Open House is our opportunity to share the joys of our profession with the community. Veterinary students and members of the faculty and staff host this annual event that provides a chance for those interested to get a closer look at veterinary medicine.

4-H Tractor Safety/Schoarie County

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Schoharie and Otsego Counties will be offering the Safe Tractor and Machinery  Operator’s Certification Course in cooperation with SUNY Cobleskill’s Agriculture Engineering Department.

 This safety course is available to youth ages 14 and up. Any youth under the age of 16 must complete this program in order to receive a Certificate of Exemption for farm equipment and tractor operation.

Capital District 4-H Tractor Safety

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Fulton & Montgomery counties
4-H would like to welcome all area youth (4-H and non 4-H) who are 14 years old and older, to participate in the 2019 Capital District 4-H/HOSTA Tractor Safety Program at the Washington County Fairgrounds. This program is a great    opportunity for youth who currently work on farms or around machinery, those who will be seeking employment on a farm, or anyone who would just like to learn more about farm and machinery safety. 

 

 

 

Dairy Discovery Workshop

Dairy Discovery is an opportunity for dairy interested youth of various knowledge levels to come together and learn about many aspects of dairy business and productin management. This workshop is for youth 14-18 and adult chaperones.

STARR for Teens

The State Teen Action Representative Retreat (STARR) is a three-day, fun-filled event where 4-H teens participate in a variety of workshops and activities meant to challenge, excite and further develop life skills. The event is planned by teens and adults serving on the youth/adult STARR planning committee. STARR is open to all NYS 4-H Teens. 
This trip is open to all 4-H teens 14 and over as of January 1st, 2019.

 

Joann's 'Clovers for Kids' Campaign

JOANN stores are helping 4-H bring more hands-on programs to local communities across the nation to inspire kids to lead lives with their head, hands, and hearts.
Between March 1 – April 30, 2019 visit your local JOANN store and purchase a clover tear away at the register for either $1 or $4.  $4 purchases come with a $4 off coupon for a later purchase.  100% of the funds donated go back to 4-H with 70% going back to the local states’ 4-H program.

NYS Guernsey Calf Scholarship Award

NYS Guernsey Calf Scholarship Award
 The Calf Scholarship Award Program is sponsored by the New York State Guernsey Breeders  Association for the purpose of encouraging those who do not presently own Guernseys to become involved with the Guernsey Breed. A purebred Guernsey Calf will be awarded to the applicant who shows interest in the Guernsey breed and who has demonstrated the capabilities of developing the animal to its fullest potential. Applicant must be age 9-15 as of January 1st of application year. You do not have to belong to 4-H, FFA, or a breed club to participate.
The award will be presented to the winner at the New York State Guernsey Breeders’ Annual Meeting in March or April.

4-H is the largest out of school youth organization in the United States with over 6 million youth members.

In the 2008-2009 program year, 7,523 young people ages 5-19 participated in 4-H programs in Fulton and Montgomery Counties with more than 200 volunteers contributing more than 42,000 hours in nurturing, caring relationships with youth.
