NYS Guernsey Calf Scholarship Award

NYS Guernsey Calf Scholarship Award
 The Calf Scholarship Award Program is sponsored by the New York State Guernsey Breeders  Association for the purpose of encouraging those who do not presently own Guernseys to become involved with the Guernsey Breed. A purebred Guernsey Calf will be awarded to the applicant who shows interest in the Guernsey breed and who has demonstrated the capabilities of developing the animal to its fullest potential. Applicant must be age 9-15 as of January 1st of application year. You do not have to belong to 4-H, FFA, or a breed club to participate.
The award will be presented to the winner at the New York State Guernsey Breeders’ Annual Meeting in March or April.

4-H T-Shirt

We are offering a Fulton-Montgomery County 4-H T-Shirt. They are $7. You have your choice of Green or Blue. They come in a variety of sizes. Orders and payment are due to the 4-H office by Friiday, July 13th. An order form is attached. If you have any questions, give us a call. 518/853-2135.

4-H Dog Obedience
Introductory Meeting (No dogs) - Monday, April 30th at 6:30pm
Classes to be held Monday evenings at 6:30pm beginning May 7th
282 Hinkle Road, Fort Plain, NY

Cost is $35 for the 8 week session. $20 refund for perfect attendance.
Open to 4-H youth 10 years of age and over.
**May consider youth 8 –9 years old upon preliminary assessment.
Please contact the 4-H office and/or Donna for more information. RSVP by April 25th.
**Rabies vaccination is required and it is strongly encouraged that dogs have all shots up to date. Parents must accompany youth for the duration of the class.

4-H Shooting Sports

Spring 2018 Series
Held on Sunday’s - 12:30pm-4:00pm
April 15th, April 22nd & May 6th
Pine Tree Rifle Club - 419 Johnson Ave Ext, Johnstown, NY
Fee for all three dates - $20 per youth
Family rate is an additional $5 per youth after the first two. No refunds if a class is missed.
 Youth registered will be signed up for all three dates. Classes will be divided up into two sessions:
Session 1 - Youth 8-11: Archery - Youth 12+: Rifle & Shotgun
Session 2: Youth 8-11: Hunting, Outdoor/Natural Resources & Wildlife - Youth 12+: Archery
RSVP and payment are due to the 4-H office by Thursday, April 12th.

Come learn the in’s and out’s of turning in a good 4-H record book.
We will cover tips on writing a good project story, what needs to be in your record book, typing vs. writing, proper organization and much more!

4-H Sewing Workshop

Wednesday, April 25th - 6:00pm 
Room 111 - Montgomery Co Annex
Come join Marge Deblock and Donna Mowery for a fun evening of learning the basics to sewing. This     workshop will be used to gauge interest in the project. If there is enough interest, we will set up a program series related to sewing.

4-H Cake Decorating

 Come join Donna Mowrey for an evening of fun learning about cake decorating. This class is building on what was taught at the intro to cake    decorating class held in February. Youth who are interested but did not attend the first session are welcome to attend.  All supplies are included in the registration fee. This session is not intended for cloverbuds.
Registration fee is $5 per youth.
For youth 8-18 years old.

In the 2008-2009 program year, 7,523 young people ages 5-19 participated in 4-H programs in Fulton and Montgomery Counties with more than 200 volunteers contributing more than 42,000 hours in nurturing, caring relationships with youth.
